Rotting, burping and farting to oblivion

Natural Gas and Petroleum Systems are the largest contributors to atmospheric methane gas. A very close second is agriculture, which represents roughly 1/3 of global greenhouse gasses. Livestock and decaying organic matter produces high levels of methane and the largest contributors are dairy cows and beef cattle. Cows produce 50-100 times more methane than pigs in the digestive process.  95% of the cow’s emissions comes from their mouth, rather than its behind. Additionally, bovine manure decomposition adds to the problem producing large quantities of methane gas.  With an exploding population there are more and more mouths need to be fed. Therefore the human diet must be adjusted.
